Five angles for Mabel to film on her phone, three hooks each, every one pointing at the same free live class.

Money sitting in savings

Problem aware

Target: Salaried women 28 to 50 with savings they've never invested

  1. A

If your money's been sitting in a savings account for years because you don't know what else to do with it, this is for you.

  2. B

Your bank pays you almost nothing to hold your money, and somehow it still feels like the safe choice, doesn't it?

  3. C

Most of the women I teach tell me the same thing on day one: my money's just sitting in savings.

Body

I get it, because savings feels safe.

But a big-bank savings account pays you next to nothing, and every year that money buys a little less.

Nobody in most of our families sat us down and explained the alternative, so we just leave it there.

I've been investing since 2008, and the method I teach is simple enough to start with $100.

You open the right account, you build a core of index funds that does most of the work, and you add to it on the same day every month.

That's how my students go from money sitting in savings to a portfolio they actually understand.

Day trading isn't investing

  1. A

Day trading isn't investing, and the people selling it to you know that.

  2. B

If the internet has you thinking investing means staring at charts all day, I need you to hear this.

  3. C

Every week someone tells me they lost money day trading and decided the stock market just isn't for them.

Body

Day trading is guessing what a price will do in the next hour, and it burns a lot of good people.

Real investing is owning great businesses and giving them time.

I bought my first stocks in 2008, right before the crash, and I kept investing through it.

I've held some of the same companies for over a decade, and I don't watch the market all day.

I add on one day a month, I hold through the headlines, and I teach the whole thing in plain English.

The 4-number check

New mechanism

Target: Beginners who want to pick stocks but feel it's gambling

VillainBuying on tips and headlinesMechanismThe 4-number check (sales, net income, cash, debt)ProofStudents buying their first stock
Three hooks · test all three
  1. A

Before I buy any stock, I check four numbers, and you can learn them in one sitting.

  2. B

You don't need a finance degree to tell a great company from a bad one, you just need four numbers.

  3. C

If picking a stock feels like gambling to you, it's because nobody ever showed you these four numbers.

Body

Most people buy a stock because someone online said it was about to go up.

That isn't research, it's a tip, and tips are how people get hurt.

I look at sales, net income, cash and long-term debt, and I start with companies I already pay every month.

If sales and profit are growing, there's a cash cushion and the debt is manageable, it goes on my list.

If not, it's trash, no matter how exciting the headline is.

My Bootcamp students have used this exact check to buy their very first stock with confidence.

Right before the crash

  1. A

I bought my first stocks in the summer of 2008, a few months before the crash.

  2. B

I've been investing since 2008, and in my very first year the market crashed.

  3. C

I grew up in the South Bronx, I was the first in my family to go to college, and I bought my first stocks right before the 2008 crash.

Body

I was learning all of this on my own, and that first year could have scared me off for good.

Instead I kept investing, I kept reading, and I learned the difference between guessing and owning.

I still invest my own money the same way, and I've held some of my companies since 2014.

In 2015 I started teaching it to women who felt as lost as I did, and I've taught the Bootcamp every year since.

Now I've put the whole method into one free live class.

You don't need thousands

Objection first

Target: Women who think they're too late or too broke to start

VillainWaiting until you have more savedMechanismSoil first: start with $100 and a coreProofA student's first share and Roth IRA
Three hooks · test all three
  1. A

You don't need thousands of dollars to start investing, you need the right account and $100.

  2. B

If you think you're too late or too broke to start investing, please don't scroll past this one.

  3. C

The first thing I tell new investors is that the amount you start with matters a lot less than you think.

Body

So many women tell me they'll start once they have more saved.

Then a year goes by, and the money's still sitting there.

Today you can own a small piece of an index fund that holds hundreds of companies, even with a small amount.

Add to it on the same day every month and it turns into a habit instead of a gamble.

One of my students bought her very first share of Apple with part of her tax return, and she opened a Roth IRA too.

She told me that in the past she would have just spent it.
